Recently, our GOYAns thoroughly enjoyed one of their summer highlights, another week-long session at
St. Stephen’s Camp. GOYAns from Tallahassee gathered with old friends throughout the Metropolis and bonded
with many new acquaintances. The week was spent enjoying many daily activities such as swimming, ropes course,
canoeing, arts & crafts, worship, hang time with a priest, alone time with God and dining together. Nightly
entertainment varied from a campfire sing-along, dodge-ball tournament, Olympics, senior camp-out, quiet campfire
and candlelight ceremony by the lake, to a dance the final night. The vegetable garden was tended to by our
youth. As a result, meals were highlighted with zucchini the kids had picked, as well as blueberries in a
freshly made cobbler. The theme of the week, “24/7: Opening Our Eyes to God All Day-Everyday,” focused on
helping our youth to always remember to live in the moment. The ropes course featured many different activities
that taught the kids to trust one another and how to communicate with each other.
Our GOYAns, and their families, are truly grateful to Philoptochos for helping our youth attend St. Stephen’s
Camp by providing scholarships!
